Since it’s 4/20 today we thought we’d bring you a guide to our favorite jones: outdoor drinking. When the warm weather finally hits Brooklyn we just want to go and sit in a backyard or on a patio and drink a cocktail or a cold Busch. We did a similar guide a few years ago, but this is a massive update with all different places, organized by neighborhood. Between the two, you’ll never be at a loss the next time someone says, “You want to get a drink outside somewhere?” These are some of our favorites, but by no means is this an exhaustive list. Greenpoint
t.b.d.: The interior has a sort of Euro disco feel to it, but the backyard is enormous with tons of picnic tables and consistently good food by guest chefs working their outdoor kitchen. Great beer selection to boot. 224 Franklin St., 718-349-6727
Black Rabbit: Two long picnic tables dominate the back garden so you’ll probably end up sharing your space–a good way to meet a cute stranger. Garden closes at 10 p.m. 91 Greenpoint Ave., 718-349-1595
Diamond Bar: Possibly the only backyard where you can drink German, Belgian, Austrian, or American craft beer inside a gondola. It also happens to be the starting point of our Total Franklin Street Immersion on May 15. 43 Franklin St., 718-383-5030
Williamsburg
Daddy’s: No, this isn’t a leather bar. It’s a solid whiskey and shot joint with a moderately-sized outdoor area, hot dogs/tofu pups and a lot of bad fashion choices on parade. 435 Graham Ave., 718-609-6388
Trophy Bar: The picnic tables in the back get packed tight pretty quickly on weekend nights, but the bloody marys are totally worth the squeeze. 351 Broadway, 347-227-8515

Berry Park: Large Beer Garden type space with a roof patio complete with beautiful river views and a voyeur's look into the towering, glass enclosed condos (owned by people with more money than you.) Iona's: they have a beautiful heated garden features a brick smokin’ BBQ, a ping pong table, shade in the Summer and warming wood burning stoves in the Winter. Duck Duck: Just like sitting outside when they open up the sliding doors, so not a smoker’s paradise, but that’s a bonus for many folks. 161 Montrose Ave
Roberta’s: In addition to a radio station, a rooftop garden and a dining area, Roberta’s has a tiki bar in the back, that serves only a small bar menu, no food necessary. Sorry, no umbrella drinks. Open now. 261 Moore St., 718-417-1118

Flatbush

Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill
Building on Bond: Civilized sidewalk seating on a leafy Boerum Hill corner; plus, $3 Sixpoints and other drafts during happy hour. 112 Bond St., 347-853-8687

South: We’ll admit it, we haven’t been here yet, but we’ve been hearing that it’s a great neighborhood place with cheap drinks and small backyard. Did we get it right? 629 5th Avenue; 718-832-4720

The Lowlands: Its in Gowanus/South Slope 3rd Ave @ 14th St. They have a patio! Its a new bar by the owners of Abilene.
***I was very happy to see this pop up from the wasteland of highway, fast food, car garages & gas stations. All the bands who rehearse at Flood Studios rejoice!
Red Hook
